my first vegas experience

In February, I got the opportunity to head from Nashville to Las Vegas for a fun, music-filled weekend with my mom! It was my first true Vegas experience! The first time it was a one-night stay while we were traveling to Los Angeles, so it doesn’t count. Our reason for going to Vegas was to see Shania Twain at her Let’s Go Vegas Residency, but it ended up being way more than that!

When I arrived in Vegas, I headed to Bally’s, where we stayed. Last time we stayed at the Paris Hotel, I was familiar with the building. I had some time to kill before my mom arrived and got a crepe from my favorite place in the hotel. Once my mom arrived, we headed to the spa to start our weekend with some pampering. Afterward, we prepared for dinner and headed to Old Homestead Steakhouse in Caesar’s Palace! I indulged in their Maine Lobster Bisque which was amazing! We then explored The Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace and eyed some costly items from the windows to end the night.

The next day we set out to explore the hotel and the area. We then took a nap before we got ready for dinner at Alexxa Kitchen and Bar and the show! After dinner, we headed to Planet Hollywood, where Twain’s residency is! When we got into the venue, we bought shirts and other merchandise and got some adult drinks in the souvenir cups! Before the show, they had a bomb playlist, and I was singing to every word, and it just so happened that the show started during “Juice” by Lizzo, which I thought was fitting. Shania sang and danced through her hits. The whole Come On Over album is my favorite. I remember as a child, we had a VHS tape with all the music videos, and I would dance around my bonus room to every single one of them. You can watch her performance of “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” at the YouTube link below.

Twain’s residency was fantastic, but that wasn’t the end of the trip. The following day we headed to the Drag Brunch at Senor Frog’s at Treasure Island. It was full of food, dancing, and too many mimosas. My mom will be mad that I told anyone, but we both left brunch drunk and decided to go shopping which is never a good idea. We went to the Venetian, shopped, rode a gondola, and had a man sing to us in Italian. Safe to say it was a great day. After a nap, I had In-n-Out then we did a little gambling. I’m happy to say I didn’t lose all of my money!

Leaving this trip and heading back to Nashville was very sad. Not only did I see one of my favorite artists in concert, but I got to have quality time with my mom. I’m lucky to have a mom who loves to have fun! This was definitely a trip for the books, and I hope to add another trip to it soon!
