music city series: la jackson

Last Friday, I made plans to catch up with my friend, Celeste! After telling her that I had never been to la jackson, the rooftop bar of the Thompson Hotel, she insisted that be where we go. Once I got off work, I hopped in the shower, did my makeup, dried my hair, and put on a stylish but country outfit for the night.

After dropping my car off at her place, we drove to the Gulch and parked at the Icon garage, which is right across the street from the hotel. When you enter the hotel, you take a right to head to the elevator. Once you get to the rooftop, they will be checking IDs as you have to be 21+ to enter. The bar features indoor and outdoor space, but on a nice day, if you don’t get there early, don’t expect to get a place outside. We ended up sitting inside by the windows, where we could view the W Hotel.

From their drink menu, I selected their tequila cocktail, More Life with Corralejo tequila, curacao, lime, passionfruit, and chili. It was delicious! We got an appetizer of Garlic Parmesan Fries with aioli. Recently, la jackson updated their menu, and the options have an Asian fusion flare! For dinner, Celeste got the Fried Shrimp, and I got the Spicy Pork Sliders. The food was great, but they are pretty small portions, so I recommend getting multiple plates to share or grabbing a snack before you go. You can check out their whole menu HERE

Overall my first experience at la jackson was pretty good! They had great drinks, great food, and great tunes that set the vibe of the room. Definitely the place to meet your friends for an after-work drink on Friday afternoon!
